UNDP has released the Human Development Report 2023/2024 with 2022 data.
Singapore leads as the country with the highest HDI in Southeast Asia and ranks 9th globally with a very high human development status. Other Southeast Asian countries in the very high human development category include Brunei, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Meanwhile, in high human development, Vietnam has surpassed Indonesia in this latest HDI with an index of 0.726. And the Philippines has moved up to the high HDI category from its previous moderate category.
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a crucial indicator to measure human development performance covering three indicator areas:
(i) Health: Life expectancy (longevity)
(ii) Education: Knowledge
(iii) Economy: Decent standard of living.
